Medical Marijuana Deductions get “Squeezed” by IRS

The IRS struck a blow at medical marijuana dispensaries this past week by declaring that business expenses would not be deductible by dispensaries.  This resulted in a huge tax bill for the California dispensary, Harborside Health Center, whose ordinary business expenses, including payroll, were disallowed.  This extreme position will be litigated by Harborside, who strongly contests the ruling of the IRS.  Read more about the IRS restrictions for Medical Marijuana Dispensaries.

Legalize it?… How about just decriminalizing it, for now?

Ann Arbor has a very lenient policy towards Marijuana.  Why not implement this policy state wide?…  It appears courts and police haven’t fully embraced the Medical Marihuana Act, so why no just decriminalize marijuana under a certain quantity, ie, make possession of it a civil infraction.  (similar to a speeding or parking ticket)
